HYACINTH Project (Hydrogen acceptance in the transition phase), funded by the Fuel Cell and Hydrogen Joint Undertaking will help technology providers, governments and promoters to answer these questions:
What’s the current state of public awareness and acceptance of Hydrogen Energy and Technologies in Europe?
What kind of fears is associated with Fuel Cell and Hydrogen technologies to date?
How can a successful transition towards the use of hydrogen in the mobility sector be achieved?
HYACINTH Project’s Progress in 2016
In 2016, the main focus was on data collection via questionnaires and interviews in the targeted countries (Belgium, Norway, Germany, France, United Kingdom, Slovenia and Spain) and the analysis in terms of awareness, familiarity, perception of benefits and costs, global attitude and acceptance of HFC technologies.
Some of the findings of the different studies were summarised and presented in the last JU Program Review days. The full presentation is available here. Key messages and main recommendations coming out from these results will soon be provided.
Additionally, in order to engage stakeholders and gain visibility for the dissemination of results, the project has been presented in several national and international events.
HYACINTH Project’s next steps
Together with the main findings out of the surveys and interviews, a Social Acceptance Information Tool Box (SAMT) that supports acceptance on future FCH systems and projects will be presented in a series of Experimental Toolbox sessions and webinars organized by HYACINTH in 2017. One of these sessions will be organised by CIDAUT. These workshops are designed to be a multidisciplinary event where feedback will be gathered to improve the usefulness and usability of the tool.
