On June 13th and 14th, Fedit organized the second edition of MeetechSpain that brought together more than 500 researchers from the most representative Research and Development Centers. In its edition, MeetechSpain has consolidated itself as a disruptive event that seeks to innovate more and better thanks to cooperation.
CIDAUT was there to strengthen its network, seeking technologic synergies, and showing some of the significant innovations carried out recently in the field of sustainable mobility and intelligent transport. The knowledge generated in the last years was in Meetech materialized into three demonstrators: one electric cargo bike supported by photovoltaic panels, one urban electric vehicle and one fuel cell.
The electric cargo bike presents, as main innovation, the integration of photovoltaics panels that in summer conditions may add 20 additional kilometers to its 60 kilometers range. Additionally, the frame is built on high strength steel frame manufactured through simplified laser cutting, bending and welding process that allows a manufacturing cost competitive against products made outside Europe, and also high performance and durability.
The urban electric vehicle’s weigh has been extremely optimized thanks to the application of a multimaterial solution, including aluminum, magnesium, structural low cost composite and high strength steel, under the mantra of putting the correct material in the right place. Also, the performance and the crashworthiness of the vehicle has been considered, succeeding to obtain five stars at Euro NCAP rating for light vehicles.
The fuel cell systems developed and manufactured by CIDAUT are aimed at special mobility applications. Specifically, propulsion systems with high autonomy and power that can use bio-reforming gases and e-fuels and whose configurations adapt to the needs of sectors such as defense, maritime or railway.
